Aspect Ratio

1. The aspect ratio refers to the width and height of an image or display.
2. The most common aspect ratio today is 16:9.
3. Movies shot with the 16:9 aspect ratio wide angle lens cameras.
4. Hence present most of the HDTVs designed 16:9 aspect ratio.
5. 16:9 means width divided into 16 parts and height divided into 9 parts of the image or display.

Different Aspect Ratios of the Screens and Display Contents

1. Black bars fill the extra space when the aspect ratio of screen and content do not match.

2. Content wider than the screen to produce horizontal black bars.

3. Content taller than the screen to produce vertical black bars. 

4. Whenever aspect ratio of the screen and content is same, content exactly fit into the screen.
